Web sites are "Hosted" on computers that are on and connected to the Internet at all times through a special high speed connection. The computers have special web server and email server software. EDC ComputerS, Inc. hosts web sites on web servers & email servers (computers) located in Benson, MN. Since we own our own servers, we are able to offer services, at an affordable rate, that are not readily available from other vendors. We are also a reseller of hosting services provided by NTT/Verio (one of the largest web site hosting providers in the world). We tend to place the more-active, high-priority sites on computers we rent from NTT/Verio. Domain Names EDC can register a domain name for you. EDC's main domain name is www.edccs.com. Your domain name can be any name that is available. It should have some special significance to your customers, such as your company name or the name of one of your most popular products or services. It can have a suffix of .com .net .org .biz .info or .us. We will help you select and obtain a domain name as a part of our hosting service. Promotion An Internet web site is one of the least expensive forms of communication and advertising. Therefore, point customers to your web site for more information. Include your web site address on all invoices, business cards, letterheads and advertisements. It is quite possible that we, at EDC, can help you reduce your overall costs while increasing sales and improving customer satisfaction. Fees Normally there is an annual fee to acquire and/or renew a domain name. This fee is rather small, so EDC often includes it in the monthly hosting fee (especially when the hosting fees are paid a year in advance). Hosting fees often consist of a one-time setup fee and a monthly fee. Hosting fees are also very economical, usually costing less than the price of a cup of coffee per day--much less in some cases! Designing,
developing and implementing web pages and email campaigns are labor
intensive. If you prefer to enter the information yourself
though our 1ADS.NET™
or EDCAds™
system, the cost is less than 25 cents per day per item listed.
EDC ComputerS, Inc. charges $36 per hour for custom design, etc.
