WOMEN OF OUR REDEEMER'S
  
PURPOSE STATEMENT

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit: We commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our calling, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.

ORW

Our Redeemer's Women consist of all women of our church.  The women are divided into smaller groups called Work Units, which serve different functions such as the ORW monthly meetings, funeral lunches, Sunday afternoon coffee hour following communion, service and lunch monthly at the Meadow Lane Home and other services.

    The annual Smorgasbord is a major church project that the ORW manages and part of the proceeds goes to our missionaries.

    Circles meet monthly and do a Bible Study and meet in homes of our members.

    The Altar Guild takes care of the communion, altar, paraments and church banners.

    The Quilters meet on Wednesdays and make quilts for missions, clothing drives, local needs, and a quilt to be auctioned at the Luther Crest Bible Camp auction to help support the Bible Camp.

    We belong to the Benson Church Women and have quarterly gatherings in the Benson churches.  We also are a part of the Golden Age Group and this group meets four times a year.  We are a part of the Glacial Ridge ELCA Synod and attend spring and fall gatherings and have a convention in the summer.

    We are an active group of women that are involved in many activities of our church such as:

	working with the local unit of Thrivent Financial for matching funds to give back to our church and our community
	purchasing items for the church such as a dishwasher, tables for the Fellowship Hall, wall fans in the kitchen, wall mount ashtrays on the exterior of our building and ceiling tiles in the Fellowship Hall and kitchen
	having a decorating committee that decorates the church
	providing Bibles for our third graders
	having two clothing drives per year
	having monthly service and lunch for the nursing home in Benson
	upkeep of the kitchen and kitchenette on a monthly basis and do spring cleaning of the church
	giving to camperships, Leaf grants, support area Lutheran Campus ministries, Lutheran Vespers, Lutheran Social Services, Sunday School videos and church library, and help support the Agape Fund
	having wonderful monthly programs and annual Christmas program, Birthday Party, and a Mother/Daughter Brunch.

    All this and more we do in the precious name of Our Redeemer, whom we serve with love.
